TITLE: Engineer Senior Systems - ™ Job number 37439 - Salary Range $73,540 - $102,776
SUMMARY: Senior technical resource for the data center server and storage team. Must have a strong background in Microsoft technology with an emphasis on server design and deployment. Administrator will be responsible for deploying, maintaining and monitoring existing Windows server infrastructure. Will also assist management in defining and implementing infrastructure standards and be the escalation point for infrastructure/server issues from the District service desk. Position is responsible for the maintenance and support of Microsoft server, VMware, and data storage environment. Candidates must be skilled in automating routine tasks such as patching and server builds using native tools such as vCenter, and PowerShell scripting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain District's Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange environments with the architectural design, planning, documentation, and management adhering to District policies as well as industry standards, and best practices & procedures.
Assist with the support of the District's enterprise VMWare clusters
Automate tasks (AD test environment population, AD data dumps, etc.) through powershell
Maintain certificate services configuration and management
Maintain disaster recovery program (planning, design, documenting, implementation, and practice)
Configure and support remote access, such as VDI
SQL administration for all Infrastructure supported SQL DBs
Monitoring system loads and performance to support capacity needs
Follow District Infrastructure change procedures - delegates support tickets to team
Design, capacity planning, etc .
EXPERIENCE 5-7 years minimum experience in server administration, 3 years minimum experience in Microsoft Active Directory/ Exchange environments, 3 years minimum experience in server virtualization.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent professional experience will be considered.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Microsoft Certified System Administrator, Cisco CCNA, VMware VCP preferred for hire. Valid Colorado driver's license.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT Must have advanced knowledge of computer networks, and management information systems. Knowledge of TCP/IP and Internet protocols with an understanding of Wide Area Networking routing. Knowledgeable in Active Directory and Exchange architecture integration, Microsoft AD Integrated DNS, Microsoft WINS, DFS, and LDAP. Experience with Microsoft Enterprise Software, Cisco UCS, and Cisco network hardware (switches, routers, etc) is required. In addition, expertise in anti-spam/anti-virus, backup, and general system administration within a MS server environment, including power shell scripting is required. Must be literate in MS SQL server setup and administration have advanced knowledge of VMware vSphere 5.x.
DECISION MAKING Critical decisions are made daily that impact students and employees of the District. Errors could potentially result in substantial embarrassment and/or cost to the District.
COMMUNITY RELATIONS Daily contact with classified staff; weekly contact with professional staff within department to discuss routine internal matters, obtain/furnish information, and resolve routine corrections/adjustments; and school support team and vendors, contractors, engineers and developers to discuss routine internal matters, obtain/furnish information, resolve routine corrections/adjustments, interpret policy, recommend policy, and negotiate controversial matters. SPAN OF CONTROL Directly supervises up to 3-4 employees (Infrastructure Administrators) in the Enterprise Data Center Operations department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting Director with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATIONAL DELIVERY Provides technology support services for educational technology, educational resources, staff development training, Transportation, Exceptional Student Services, Health Services, and Human Resources. Provides direct services for implementation of instructional programs, Construction Management on school infrastructure design, Facility Planning and Design, developing educational specifications. Student access to the Internet, Campus, PeopleSoft access, Inform access as well.
COMPLEXITY OF WORK Work is assigned by the Enterprise Server & Storage Director. The position meets with department representatives to provide consulting and infrastructure design services. Decisions are made based on current and future needs and the recommendations are defined by District policies combined with best industry practice for voice system standards. This position requires a high level of independent judgment on a regular basis. Must use the knowledge of the applicable Nortel equipment and how it interacts with peer network equipment to troubleshoot problems.
